Memories and Stories
William grew up in Clapham, Uk. William had ten brothers and sisters.
In 1856 William married his first wife Ellen REGAN.
Ellen was an Irish girl from County Cork. It is believed the couple met sometime in the 1850s.
On September 25, 1856 William and Ellen left England for New Zealand aboard the Oliver Lang. William and Ellen were
together for over 18 years and had three children, Robert, Caroline and Emma HALL.
Sadly Ellen passed away at the age of 47 on June 4, 1874.
Twelve months later William married his second wife Mary MARTIN nee ANDERSON.
He gained two step children Alice and George MARTIN, George was named after his late father.
William and Mary had five more children together Bill, John, Charley, Jack and Jim.
In the mid 1880s William returned home to Clapham.
William is buried at Wimbledon Cemetery, (aka Gap Road Cemetery) in London, UK. He currently lies in an unmarked grave
with his fourth wife Jane HALL (nee CHATFIELD).
The Hall Family Committee plan to place a memorial plaque on his grave in the near future.
